Deep Blue – What it Contains
Detailed Description of Ingredients
Japanese Peppermint
Japanese Peppermint (Mentha arvensis) is a type of mint native to North America and East Asia. It has many uses, with the leaves and stems of this perennial being steam-distilled to produce Japanese Peppermint essential oil. Although Japanese Peppermint essential oil is similar to Peppermint oil, it contains a higher percentage of the chemical component menthol, giving it a more distinctive mint aroma. For this reason, Japanese Peppermint is often used as a popular ingredient in many commercial lozenges.
Copaiba
Copaiba essential oil comes from a fragrant tropical tree in South America. Indigenous peoples of northern and northeastern Brazil have used this essential oil since the 16th century in traditional healing practices. Copaiba oil is widely used in cosmetic products, including soaps, creams, lotions, and perfumes, due to its ability to promote clear and smooth skin.
Bergamot Mint
Bergamot Mint essential oil comes from a flowering perennial herb with purple flowers and heart-shaped leaves. Despite its name, Bergamot Mint is not related to Bergamot. Bergamot Mint, like Lavender, primarily contains linalool and linalyl acetate. Ideal for combining with Fractionated Coconut Oil for a pleasant, soothing post-workout massage.
Tea Tree
Tea Tree essential oil – also often called Melaleuca essential oil – contains over 92 different compounds and has countless topical uses. Tea Tree is best known for its cleansing properties. It can be used to cleanse skin and nails and to promote healthy skin.
Moroccan Chamomile
Blue Chamomile, also known as Moroccan Chamomile, is a yellow-flowering Mediterranean annual growing in northern Morocco. Chamazulene, a chemical component of Moroccan Chamomile, gives the oil its characteristic indigo color. The essential oil is also known for its benefits for the skin.
Spanish Rosemary
Star Anise
Star Anise is an evergreen tree native to Southeast Asia. In Chinese culture, this plant is called "eight-pronged anise" or simply "eight points" due to its fruit, which typically has eight follicles. The main chemical compound of star anise, anethole, creates its characteristic licorice scent. As a key ingredient in dōTERRA ZenGest™ blend, star anise can be beneficial when applied topically to soothe stomach discomfort.
Peppermint
Peppermint, consistently one of dōTERRA's best-selling products, is a useful oil to always have on hand. The highest quality peppermint oil distinguishes itself from other products by its high menthol content.
Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus, sometimes also called gum trees, are evergreen woody plants growing up to 15 meters tall. The main chemical components of Eucalyptus oil are eucalyptol and alpha-terpineol, which make the oil ideal for soothing experiential massages.
Helichrysum Italicum
Helichrysum Italicum oil, with its honey-sweet scent, restores and regenerates the skin. Helichrysum Italicum is also referred to as the "everlasting" or "immortal flower" and is commonly used in anti-aging products for its rejuvenating skin benefits. Helichrysum Italicum can help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections and promotes a radiant, youthful complexion.
